I initially sought out coaching with Karin for two main reasons: I needed to improve my communication style and address my tendencies as a people pleaser and hyper achiever at work. I wanted to learn how to respond rather than react in difficult conversations and understand how to separate my self-worth from my productivity. I often felt compelled to say yes to everything to be valued at work, which led to anxiety, resentment, and an unsustainable pace.
Through my coaching experience with Karin, I’ve had several important insights. One of the most profound realizations was understanding that it is indeed possible to change bad habits and behaviors. It wasn’t immediately clear to me why I had certain behaviors, such as feeling judged by others or needing to achieve to feel valued. I came to learn that these reactions stemmed from a need for protection or perceived harm, which may have been useful in childhood but are no longer necessary as an adult. This awareness was not only insightful but also liberating. Karin’s approach helped me see that these negative behaviors weren’t signs of weakness but were strategies that once served a protective purpose. To unlearn them, I needed to understand and unpack them, and this process was incredibly enlightening.
Karin’s effectiveness as a coach comes from her exceptional ability to listen—not just to what is being said, but also to the context and tone behind it. This skill allows her to ask follow-up questions that are thoughtful, poignant, and engaging. Through her interactions, I have gained a deeper understanding of my reactions in various situations and the reasons behind them. Karin has guided me to develop a better understanding of myself, which has been invaluable.
As a result of Karin’s coaching, I have experienced significant improvements in my performance, well-being, and relationships. I have learned to slow down, recognizing that my fast pace was often triggered by stress or the pressure of looming deadlines. By incorporating mindful practices, taking breaks, and performing daily PQ reps, I have been able to reduce my anxiety and maintain a calmer demeanor both at work and at home. Although I initially sought Karin’s help as a professional coach, the positive impact of her guidance has extended into my personal life as well. The way we show up at work often mirrors how we are at home, and I have found that my relationships in both areas have greatly benefited from the coaching experience.
If I could give more than five stars, I would. Five stars for Karin!
